NBA Free Agent’s Top Suitor Officially Moves on
The New York Knicks will not be re-signing guard Cam Payne for the upcoming season, as confirmed by a league source. This decision aligns with the team's offseason direction and does not come as a surprise.
Payne, who is 31 years old, played 72 games for the Knicks last season, averaging 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He notably contributed to the team's victory in Game 1 against the Pistons during the playoffs.
Throughout his career, Payne has struggled to find a long-term team. Drafted 14th overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2015, he was later traded to the Chicago Bulls and had brief stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers on 10-day contracts. He spent four seasons with the Phoenix Suns, participating in three playoff runs, before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and subsequently the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2023-2024 season.
Despite his experience and contributions, Payne remains a free agent as training camps approach, with the Knicks opting not to bring him back.
