Will Ousmane Dembele attend the Ballon d’Or? PSG match to clash with tonight’s ceremony

22/09 20:05

Ousmane Dembele, the heavy favorite to win the Ballon d'Or, faces a decision on whether to attend tonight's award ceremony as it clashes with a rescheduled Paris Saint-Germain Ligue 1 match away to Marseille. The match was originally postponed on Sunday due to an orange alert for flooding and thunderstorms in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, where Marseille is located, and has been moved to kick off at 8pm local time, coinciding with the Ballon d'Or ceremony at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.

Dembele, who is injured with a hamstring issue and will not be part of the PSG squad for the match, could potentially receive permission to skip the game and attend the ceremony to collect his expected award. He is anticipated to win the men's Ballon d'Or after an outstanding season with 35 goals and 16 assists, which helped PSG secure the Ligue 1 title and their first Champions League crown.

Other PSG nominees include injured players Desire Doue and Joao Neves, who are also expected to attend the ceremony, while fit nominees such as Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Fabian Ruiz, and Vitinha will play in the match. PSG coach Luis Enrique, nominated for Coach of the Year, will be absent from the ceremony due to the fixture.
