Villarreal's LaLiga clash at Levante postponed after severe weather warning
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) has postponed the La Liga match between Levante and Villarreal scheduled for Sunday. This decision was made due to a severe weather alert, specifically a forecast of torrential rains and a red alert warning issued for the Valencia region on Spain's east coast.
The federation's statement cited safety recommendations as the reason for the postponement. This action follows a precedent set last year when several matches were called off after deadly flooding in the same region resulted in over 200 fatalities.
Villarreal, who are currently third in the league and have played two fewer games than leaders Barcelona, trail by eight points. In other Sunday fixtures, second-placed Real Madrid, who are seven points behind Barcelona, were set to play against Alaves.
