Savi Davison turns former weakness into strength as PLDT's top blocker in PVL Reinforced
Savi Davison, previously recognized for her offensive skills, has transformed into the top blocker in the league, accumulating 18 rejections and strengthening PLDT's defense in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference. She leads the entire league with 15 total blocks, showcasing her significant role in the team's defensive strategy.
Davison openly admitted that blocking was not her strength during her college years, but she dedicated effort to perfecting the skill after college. She attributed her success to mental focus, careful observation of opponents, and consistent practice, which has now translated into effective performances on the court.
In a recent match against Galeries Tower at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur, Davison's defensive prowess was evident as PLDT secured a victory in four sets. Despite a slow start where the team lost the second set, she contributed 21 points, including 18 attacks and three blocks, highlighting her all-around impact on the game.
Reflecting on the match, Davison expressed satisfaction with the team's execution and ability to finish strong, even amid challenges such as adverse weather and adapting to the new venue in Candon City. Her efforts have not only solidified her role as a key defender but also helped turn defensive plays into crucial points for PLDT.
