PBA: Rain or Shine torches Magnolia in Bahrain to claim twice-to-beat bonus
Rain or Shine defeated Magnolia 101-92 in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup, securing the first twice-to-beat playoff advantage. The victory was powered by a dominant three-point shooting performance, with the Elasto Painters making 17 shots from beyond the arc.
Jhonard Clarito led Rain or Shine with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, including 16 points in the first half to help establish a 53-47 halftime lead. Caelan Tiongson contributed 14 points, hitting four three-pointers, as the team improved its record to 8-2.
Rain or Shine maintained control throughout the game, with veteran guard Stanley Pringle hitting three triples in the third quarter to extend the lead to 81-69. Although Magnolia mounted several comeback attempts in the fourth quarter, closing the gap to as few as four points, Rain or Shine consistently answered with key shots.
Magnolia's late efforts, including a 5-0 run and a three-point play from Ian Sangalang, were countered by clutch baskets from Tiongson and Gian Mamuyac. Mamuyac's three-pointer and jumper in the final 1:42 sealed the 101-91 lead for Rain or Shine.
Mark Barroca led Magnolia with 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while Peter Alfaro and Javi Gomez de Liaño added 13 and 12 points, respectively. The loss dropped Magnolia to a 6-4 record.
