PBA postpones November 9 games due to Uwan

09/11 08:02

The PBA has postponed the Sunday Philippine Cup doubleheader scheduled at Ynares Center II in Rodriguez, Rizal, due to the threat of Typhoon Uwan, which is expected to intensify into a super typhoon. The league announced the decision on Saturday afternoon through its social media accounts, emphasizing that the safety of fans, players, officials, and staff was the primary reason for the postponement.

The affected games included TNT versus Magnolia at 5:15 p.m. and Barangay Ginebra against Titan Ultra at 7:30 p.m., which would have been the first visit of crowd favorites to the town informally known as Montalban. The PBA confirmed that both games will be rescheduled to a later date.

This postponement is the first due to bad weather since the semifinals of the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup, with the last rescheduling occurring during Game 6 of the 2022 Governors’ Cup Finals between Ginebra and Meralco because of a small fire at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Meanwhile, Saturday's games at Ynares Center in Antipolo proceeded as planned, featuring matches between Converge and Blackwater, followed by Rain or Shine against NLEX.
