PBA: NLEX rebounds from big loss, ends Rain or Shine streak

09/11 08:00

The NLEX Road Warriors secured a 105-91 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the PBA Philippine Cup, halting Rain or Shine's four-game winning streak and allowing NLEX to rebound from a previous 30-point defeat to Barangay Ginebra.

Robert Bolick was the top scorer for NLEX with 28 points, while JB Bahio contributed a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, Xyrus Torres added 15 points, and Jonnel Policarpio and Dom Fajardo each scored 10 points, with Javee Mocon chipping in 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Rain or Shine narrowed the gap in the second quarter after trailing 20-7, but NLEX maintained a halftime lead of 52-47 and built another double-digit advantage in the third quarter to control the game.

Jhonard Clarito led Rain or Shine with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, but the team missed the opportunity to reclaim the solo lead in the standings, partly due to the absence of center Keith Datu, who is out for the season with a ruptured right patellar tendon.

As a result of this win, NLEX improved their record to 5-2, tying Rain or Shine for second place in the league standings.
