Kylian who? Mbappé's bro nets 1st Ligue 1 goal
Ethan Mbappé, the younger brother of France superstar Kylian Mbappé, scored his first goal in Ligue 1 with a superb volley deep in injury time, securing a 2-1 victory for Lille against Toulouse on Sunday.
Substituted into the match with only nine minutes remaining, Ethan connected with a cross in the eighth minute of stoppage time and volleyed the ball into the top corner using his left foot, demonstrating his technical skill and securing the win for Lille.
The 18-year-old left-footed midfielder joined Lille from Paris Saint-Germain a year ago and was hampered by injuries throughout the previous season, making this goal a significant milestone in his career.
Lille trailed for much of the match after Frank Magri broke the deadlock for Toulouse against the run of play in the second half, but Nabil Bentaleb equalized in the 90th minute with a penalty following a handball by Rasmus Nicolaisen. Toulouse was reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute after Alexis Vossah was sent off for a dangerous foul.
Both Ethan and Kylian Mbappé left Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024, with Kylian moving to the Spanish league and Ethan signing a three-year deal with Lille, where he continues to develop his career in France.
