Cloanne Mondoñedo’s masterful setting earns her PVL weekly award

In the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), exceptional playmaking is closely tied to effective team-building, with the best teams typically featuring top setters. Among the league's notable orchestrators is Cloanne Mondoñedo of the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, who is emerging as a key player in the 2025 Reinforced Conference, where her team remains the only undefeated squad.

Mondoñedo delivered standout performances in recent matches, recording 27 excellent sets and four points in a reverse sweep victory over Akari (23-25, 22-25, 25-23, 25-12, 15-7) last Tuesday, followed by 26 excellent sets and three points in a win against Choco Mucho (25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 25-19) last Saturday in Candon City, Ilocos Sur. These efforts contributed to ZUS Coffee's franchise-best 6-0 start and their third-ever quarterfinals appearance in the conference.

For her contributions, Mondoñedo was unanimously named the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live for the period of November 4 to 8. She became only the second local player in the Reinforced Conference to receive this award, following Erika Santos, and edged out strong competitors from other teams, including her own teammates and imports, for the recognition.

Mondoñedo attributes her motivation to her teammates' strong desire to win, noting that their performance inspires her to elevate her own game. She emphasized that her goal is to improve consistency and make her teammates' jobs easier, reflecting a team-oriented approach that has propelled the Thunderbelles from being a league underdog to a championship contender.

Looking ahead, Mondoñedo and the Thunderbelles aim to maintain their momentum by targeting an 8-0 sweep in the elimination round, with upcoming matches against Cignal and Nxled, as they pursue their first PVL championship.
